Air magic specialties

Below are the descriptions of what each specialty has the possibility of doing. The character may or may not be able to do all of what is listed depending on their adeptness with magic. Please be aware that not everything possible may be listed. If you wish to use or do something listed or unlisted, keep in mind the balance of magic.


~Aeromancer~

   Witches with the specialty of Aeromancy can create tornadoes, whirlwinds and similar forms of wind storms. They are able to generate winds, or the flow of gases on a large scale of varying intensity. They are also able to manipulate the air in their lungs in a way that allows them to shape the exhaling of air. These shapes can include bursts of air, blades of air, spheres made of air, even the propulsion of oneself from the mouth.

   A witch of this type can use the air itself to slice objects, focusing a current of wind or in some cases sound to the point where it takes on a sharp edge which the caster launches at foes. If the pressure wave is strong enough, it can split the air itself to create a vacuum shock-wave sharp enough to slice through anything in its path. Although this attack usually does slashing damage, some users are able to focus it into single piercing stab like immaterial bullets.

   An aeromancer can also generate oxygen, allowing them to do most things that would make them short of breath, such as diving underwater, holding one's breath and etc. Some can use it in close situations such as if they were getting choked to death, locked in an airless room or things related to the heart. Alongside that, the can erase the oxygen from a surrounding environment causing respiring organisms to choke and even go into cardiac arrest. This also allows them to be able to have lungs similar to bird lungs, where they can have a constant flow and fill of fresh air.

   Another dangerous form of attack Aeromancers use is the ability to cause an explosion of any scale, with varying effects ranging from stunning to total annihilation.  The final form for attacking, this type of person has the ability to create something similar to a tornado, but instead of it being upright, it jets out from the body like a horizontal spiral.

   Practitioners of this specialty can also fly or move through the air using different methods. Some include using one or more forms of energy, wings or similar structures, or even mimicking or becoming an animal that can fly. The witches are generally able to levitate and glide as well. Lastly, Aeromancers can use the wind/air to resist damage from being crushed, smashed or flattened.




~Smoke/Gas~

   A witch with a specialty in smoke or gas can create, shape and manipulate smoke, collections of airborne solids and liquid particulates and gases emitted when a material undergoes combustion or pyrolysis. It is commonly an unwanted by-product of fires, with smoke inhalation being a leading cause of death in fires. The smoke kills by a combination of thermal damage, poisoning and pulmonary irritation caused by carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide and other combustion products. Witches of this power can manipulate the smoke in their lungs in a way that allows them to shape the exhaled smoke. These forms can include bursts of smoke, streams of smoke at the enemy to suffocate them, spheres made of smoke to blind their enemies and even a mist of it from their mouths.
   
   Generating or emitting poisonous gases that can inflict their victims, is also a possible magic for the witch to use. For example, a smoke or gas manipulating witch can exude toxic gases which can cause various effects on others who inhale the fumes which could result in hyper stimulation, lethargy or coma. Once the gas is no longer being delivered, the gas becomes less lethal as it expands and dissipates. People of this specialty have acclimated to the gases and poisons that they produce, therefore filers out hostile effects of foreign gases. Things that they can filter out are dust and asbestos. They can breathe gases instead of oxygen and can survive mountains, aerial and terrain air deficiency.  




~Storm~

   Storm witches can sense, create and shape storms, including strong winds, hail, thunder and/or lightning. This includes thunderstorms, snowstorms, rainstorms, heavy freezing rain, ice storms, tropical cyclones, hurricanes, windstorms, dust storms, blizzards and sandstorms. Along with this comes the ability to generate sleet, fog and temperature changes. With this ability comes the focus to either create weather patterns or control an already existing weather phenomena.

   These witches are able to survive and adapt to extremely high or low air pressure and high wind friction. This is accompanied by an innate immunity to the vertigo and/or fear of heights. They can fly or move through the air using varying methods which include forms of energy, wings or other structures.
Witches with the storm specialty can generate winds, or flow of gases on a large scale of varying intensity. They can also create tornadoes, whirlwinds and similar forms of wind storms. Another thing they can generally do is resist damage from being crushed, smashed or flattened.

   The witch is also able to transform their body completely into a storm cloud, a severe form of weather that may be marked by many things. Things that show this are the ability to turn into strong wind, hail, thunder, lightning, heavy rain, heavy freezing rain, strong winds, sandstorms and other forms of severe weather. Alternately, they can transform into homogeneous matter, without any part of their form being more important than the other.




~Sound~

   Sound manipulators can create, shape and manipulate sound, which is a periodic disturbance of the medium (Air, ground, water, etc.) that radiates outward in straight lines in the form of a pressure wave. The effect that these waves produce upon the ear is perceived as sound. They can mimic, intensify, hush and distort as well as warp, strengthen, echo, speed up and slow down sound, using it as a powerful physical force. At low frequencies, sound can be potentially fatal to living beings by causing internal damage, while high frequencies cannot be heard by normal humans but can be used for sonar-like effects. Since sound vibrations can travel through the air, ground, water and any form of a medium, defense using physical barriers is difficult. The vibrations can also affect someone at a molecular level, which proves that sound can be an invisible, deadly weapon and versatile tool.

   A few practitioners can become stronger, faster and more durable when they come into contact with sound, possibly unlocking abilities related to them and enhancing existing powers. Some might even be able to draw sustenance from sound that has been amplified. These witches are also immune to the effects of sound waves and can be unaffected by sonic based attacked, which allows them to also negate other sound waves, or soundproofing an area.

   Sound manipulation can release and use sound to attack with various shapes or intensities that are either projected, or used as part of a melee attack. Able to detect sound waves, anything that generates noise, sound, sonic waves or vibrations, this witch can detect wherever the source of the vibrations came from.

   Many of these users can absorb sound and convert it into various forms of energy which can also have the person becoming a physical manifestation of sound and could have limitless control over the sound waves. When the waves are absorbed, the energy can be used to enhance them, gain a drained power or use it as a power source temporarily. They also can use sound to blanket themselves which allows them to create a deafening sound or smooth musical beat around them. (An example of using the energy is someone clapping their hands and sending out a shockwave.)

   These witches also use sound to vibrate and stimulate their physical attributes. For example, they can stimulate their muscles to move if heavily injured or stimulate their blood vessels to pump blood through their body without their heart even giving off a heartbeat. Sound manipulation gives certain witches the ability to fly, glide or levitate. They can fly at varying speeds or propel themselves without taking flight, including enhanced jumping by a short burst of flight.

   They can remove targets ability to speak or communicate temporarily or permanently (Depending on the sacrifice given.) which can severely limit an opponent's ability to relay information. Also able to teleport using sound, they merge into the sound wave and appear anywhere else from the same element of sound.

   Being able to control sound waves, some users can manifest the changes in their own voice. This can manifest as a siren song, controlling the minds of others and even altering reality. The user can heal themselves or others by using sound by utilizing high frequency sound waves to shelter the body, revitalizing it to its max by manipulating the molecules and nerves via vibration to induce regeneration.




~Flight~

   Witches that have a specialty in flight can fly or move through the air using varying methods. Some possibilities include using one or more forms of energy, wings or similar structures, or even mimicking or becoming an animal that can fly. They are generally able to levitate and glide as well. They can sometimes enable others to fly and manipulate the flights of people who can fly using their own abilities. They could also manipulate the flights of winged animals and planes and will have limited telekinesis by making objects fly for a short time. This witch is able to manifest wings that grow or are attached to the body allowing flight. They may also protect from rear attacks or detach and re-grow for quick getaways.



~Mentalist~

(minds, thoughts, and memories)
   Mentalists are able to mask psychic presence and obscure the perceptions of psychic trackers, making any subject within their target radius appear 'dark'. Experience will enhance the size of the area they can shadow and the intensity of the shielding effect.
   
   A side effect on some Mentalists, is that they are affected by their gift which results in multiple personalities. These personalities might be able to be evoked at any time, but sometimes it's random. They may be passive or aggressive personas which might even have some different powers. The separate identities inhabiting the hosting body are attributed to be similar to a symbiote. In most cases this identity can exist for an extensive period of time in which the witch may have no prior knowledge of the existence. It is apparent that while these personas mostly look out for the original, some might try to overwrite and take over to be the 'top' personality.

  These witches can control the minds of others with targets being completely subjected to their mental control. If the victims were placed into a semi-conscious state, they may not have any recollection of the previous actions that they performed while under its effect. This is can be done through hypnosis as well as direct contact.

   While in the minds of others, the manipulator can erase the memories of others, ranging from a certain memory or erase a person's entire memory and personality. While making people forget who they are, they will not be able to remember about their places, habits, names, jobs or what they liked or hated. Or instead of just erasing memories, they can absorb the memory if they choose which also removes it from the source. This memory goes into their body and they can use it in various ways, gaining some form of advantage, either by enhancing themselves or gaining the drained power or by storing the memory for energy.

   A minor form of controlling someone's mind, is thought control, which can make people think what they want, control thinking processes, cause them to lose their line of thought inducing confusion or completely shutting down the thinking process. Though, changing someone's thoughts and memories can result in a person succumbing to madness. This can affect someone who already has a form of mental illness or not. They can go to a minor version of ‘loopy’ or lose their grip completely on reality and become delusional, which can result in paranoia, catatonic or hostile states. They also have the ability to remove mental illness to make someone sane.

  Memory modification is another tool in the Mentalist's tool bag. They can modify, fabricate, suppress, influence, repair, restore, erase, detect or view anyone's memory if they are strong enough.  Changing memories can confuse, wipe away minor details or cause amnesia or provoke nostalgia. They can also enter a person's psychic vision and force them to relive that memory as if it were happening all over again. Mentalists can communicate with others mentally or affect their minds and thoughts if they get a response.  Telepathy falls into two categories. Telepathic communication, which is the ability to transmit information from mind to mind. Then there is Telepathic Perception which is the ability to receive information from another mind.
   
   The most basic of mentalists usually have the abilities to: mind read (Reading Minds), psychic communication (Communicating via minds.), telepathy (Communicating telepathically with emotions.), and telepathic speaking (Speaking telepathically.). advanced mentalists can bind one's moments, download thoughts and memories from another's mind, manipulate emotions, manipulate perceived Illusions, project knowledge to another mind, teach others languages via telepathy, read memories, push a mind into the wanted state, control minds, project images into a mind, link a mind with the caster's, fuse a consciousness with another, enter the mind of another, understand multiple languages, launch psi-bolts to cause mental damage, shut down someone's brain function, provide telepathic static,  inhibit someone's capabilities, create a mental map, mask their psychic presence, shield minds, torture minds, implant memories and thoughts, hijack telepathic communication, predict things telepathically, and manifest thoughts and manipulate thoughts.

   A master Mentalist can bring out the dark side in others, transfer a mind to a new body, bring out the light side in others, cause hallucinations, manipulate functions of the mind, trade minds from two different bodies with one another, project a field that allows others to understand multiple languages, generate constructs out of mental energy, produce and manipulate mental energy, control thought waves, create powerful illusions that can cause physical damage and manipulate one's subconscious. A master in the specialty can have the ability to project thoughts into reality, transport physical matter into one's conscious or subconscious thoughts and the ability to read thoughts of billions or more subjects at once. Another form of a Mentalist's prowess is telekinesis. This means someone can manipulate matter with their mind.




~Bard~


   Bards are the physical manifestation of music. As a result, these people have limitless control over it. They have enhanced skills in musicianship which could be playing an instrument, singing or just understanding musical notes and cues. They can alter or outright manipulate reality, probability via the music or songs they conduct. The utility of this power can extend from scientific, metaphysical or spiritual since all things are able to be defined or exposed in music, subtle or direct, vague or clear. All are able to be expressed.

   They are the ultimate composer of the entire world. A music or song can vary with tone, cadence or temp. This is where the utility can have major diversity. The capabilities with the songs, stopping time by stopping its music, cause someone's personality to change by changing the tone or mood of the song/music and more that can be left to one's imagination. If done right, they can also listen to an individual's song/music so to speak and thus bale to have an idea of their personality and mood. In short, the user interprets fundamental concepts of reality and existence through music and songs.

   They are able to infuse music with physical attacks, using musical sound waves to influence and disorient opponents and strengthen attacks. Along with this, they can project emotions onto others by playing their music, where nursery rhymes may calm others. A hidden ability that many bards keep secret is that they have the ability to make others around them burst into song and dance. A true bard can manipulate music. As long as the song they are using for manipulation has rhythm pitch, dynamics and timbre and texture, then almost anyone can and usually do fall prey to the Bards.
