History of the Nuna family and their tribe the NAME
The later named Nuna family and those that resided in their growing community, (some of which make up the later built tribe) decided it best for everyone if they continued their move east. Some within their community stayed behind to continue a small growth of their numbers in Alaska. Not only did they continue to populate the Denbigh complex, but they were able to pick up some people from those that were crossing the land bridge.
The swiftness of the (Tribe Name) tribe’s migration was astounding to most, within a century they had reached Greenland. With a lack of places to stop and mingle or get curious about though, some were not surprised with their quickness. Their move east caused more than a few changes culturally and to the population’s numbers. By 2400 BC they had fallen under a completely new culturally blanketed name, referred to now as the Paleo-Eskimos. With numbers dwindled not only because of death, but because of people deciding to turn around or stay in various places they passed, The (Tribe Name) tribe stayed in Greenland for a long while.
In 2000 BC, the largest group of the (Tribe Name) tribe, stationed in Greenland, began to flourish. The Nuna family swiftly found themselves raised into seats of leadership even outside of their own community. Some were also in turn raised into the seat of Shamans for their connection to the natural world. Under their new blanketed cultural name, Dorset, the (Tribe Name) tribe started growing a bit of fame. Families around them began melding into the families in the tribe’s community just to be close to the Nuna family. With the harsh living conditions presented in the Arctic, any sort of real population growth was hindered. This kept the community a more modest size. Parts of their community migrated south to places like the Labrador Coast and Newfoundland, headed up by a handful of the (Royal Name)’s up and coming youth.
Even as they kept more to themselves as a whole than many other cultures of the Arctic, in 500 BC, the (Tribe Name) along with some of their communities saw exceptional development. With their secluded nature though, came rumors and hushed whispers passed between other tribes and communities. Those within the tribe, as well as, some nearby knew these rumors of true connection and spirituality to be true. People traveled from places as far as modern day Russian and Alaska to enlist the tribes help with varying problems and ailments.
The community’s isolation first finally broke in 769 AD. The high priestess of the time proclaimed a vision of war to come in the south. Most could not be bothered by this proclamation, continuing about their life as if nothing was wrong. Some of the numbers still fled to the other homes in Greenland and Alaska, but others stayed and waited for the ball to drop. Come 770 AD, what they waited for finally hit, the war had started and the magic that most of them depended on for food and survival faltered becoming unruly. Some of the more skeptical, outlying tribes saw this and broke away, calling the families fakes.
Life became harder on the (Tribe name), with their magic often times doing the very opposite of what they wanted their way of life hung in the balance, more than that, their lives did. The task of hunting and gathering fell back onto age old traditions with the hopes that their calls to gods for protection and success would be heard. It wasn't until 790 AD, when the ailing high priestess had her last vision. The darkness was coming to claim their magic and it was their duty to not let that happen. Many still did not pay mind to her words; the heiresses to her position did though. Her identical twin daughters walked into their mother's footsteps after her death.
Their belief in their mother's prophecy would save the tribe's hide come 795 AD. The dark forces started to trickle into their territory. The first few waves were easy, they outnumbered the enemy. As time passed the waves of foes grew larger, lacking predictable magic, their tribesmen swiftly started to die off. As a more modestly sized tribe, every man mattered and each lose made it twice as hard to not only fight, but to just plain survive the harsh climate.
With more opposing forces than they could handle after four years, the (tribe name) had to make a skillful retreat. Fleeing to one of their smaller territories, they began to take the prophecies a touch more serious. Good farming land was far and few and with their best land taken from them they were not the happiest bunch.
With the growing onslaught of warriors’ hell bent on bleeding their magic from them, the twins made a stand and through sheer stubbornness they flipped the tides in their favor. As soon as things shifted, the priestess' pushed forward. They not only wished to have their land back, but they wished to fulfill their mother's last wish.
They did indeed retake their land with a ferocity that was almost animalistic. Not stopping there, they continued to push south, forced to fight those drawn to them along the way. The high priestesses even in their ripening age seem to feed off of and balance each other out far better off in their magic than anyone else. Even without enemies, not everyone was destined to make it to Bohemia. Those following them though, continued to do so faithfully.
Ten years later in 830 AD, the twins landed in Bohemia. Hardly any rest is given to them though as their arrival marked another boast of power throughout the islands. They were also the last of the six tribes to arrive and the war now raged all around them. Just years later, the twins saw their last fight and within the year the new priestess followed the Spiorad An Dúlra tribe's leadership, laying down arms and pledging fealty to the Ulfrnson's and their tribe.
With no need for any sort of royalty seat, when the death of the Ulfrnson king caused a complete upset amongst the tribes the (Tribe name) took no sides. Remaining completely neutral they just did their best to stay out of the way of the conflict. Turning inwards to themselves to continue to plan and figure out how to win the war. Disagreements swirled into full on stand offs between clansmen, each far too stubborn to yield to the other.
When the devastation hit they like many others did not see it coming. When the four day long slaughter stopped, more than 2/3 of the total population had fallen. Being the smallest of the six tribes, the tribesmen taken from them made a large dent in their population. Unlike many though, their priestess had escaped the bloody fate that too many other leaders fell prey to. When the next Ulfrnson, a child at the age of ten and wise beyond his years, ascended to the title leader of leaders and king of the tribes. They fell in line with the others and pledged a renewed oath.
With the tribes at their sides, the (Tribe name) tribe took part in several unity rituals. With their connection to the islands growing with each day they stayed on it, many of the (Tribe name) tribesmen felt the change in magic beneath their feet. Not accustom to the magnitude of power flowing through Bohemia though, they could not put their finger on what exactly had changed. What they did know though was that their rituals not only united the tribes, but it connected them to the islands. Another thing taken to heart through these rituals was that unlike many of their predecessors they took on a surname of sorts. Nuna was the name of the high priestess during the war and the Ulfrnson family along with many others referred to those related to her with her name. The name however, did not really get used until after her death years later and from then on the name Nuna would be used as a kind of tribe like surname for those within her bloodline.
This growing bond with the natural world around them lifted their mourning spirits and after properly sending their loved ones off, they peeled back off into battle. Their tactics changed drastically though. It was almost like they had somehow forgotten their heritage in their short time around so many other cultures, like they forgot what their gifts really were. This change sent the (tribe name) to their roots; they traveled in small packs through the forests and blending in as if they were the forest.
The magic was still faulty at times though and far too many times their woodland attacks set them up for ambushes. The ground they had gained went virtually unnoticed by the dwindling tribe. It wasn't until 860 AD that their magic was far more noticeably working with them. It still at times ran haywire, but there was a light at the end of their once dreary tunnel. This lead the tribe to take more dangerous risks, to which they did see reward, but by the time the war ended in 870 AD, their tribe was barely hanging on. A handful of families remained alive, really it was barely enough to continue their population in the fashion that they had in the past.
When the war was fully over and the dark forces had been driven back to their own realms or cursed in a hellish life. Freyja gifted the (tribe name) tribe with a weighted prowess in their favored element, earth. To the high priestess and her family, the Nuna family, she gifted the purest and strongest form of the earth element to them to nurture and protect. Not only did the element course through their veins but it tied them and their magic to an artifact. This of course came with a price and although they were not the first selected amongst the tribes, they understood that at some point a child from their tribe could be born with Freyja's sight. The child would then be taken to study the art of Siedr, not able to grow up amongst them. To ensure the continued safety of magic the tribes formed The Tribunal and each took a seat at the table shortly after the war’s end.
As the other tribes either stayed on the islands or migrated back to their respective homes. The (tribe name) disappeared into the Bohemian forests. They had no desire to live in the make shift encampment that had been made up, instead deferring to living amongst the trees and wildlife. There had always been a connection to the natural world that flowed through them. The gifts given to them made the land and animals almost like a whole new experience, only made better by the fact that again magic was predictable.
The first time the (tribe name) tribe came fully out of hiding was shortly before the start of 1000 AD. Their numbers had grown significantly though they had no intention of sticking around. A member of the Spiorad An Dúlra clan that had stuck around sought them out in the forest, speaking of dreams of their families back home turning up missing and soon enough others would take over their lands. By the next morning the (Tribe name) were gone, every last one of them.
When they returned to the Labrador Coast and Newfoundland, the prediction indeed had come true. Those they had left behind had vanished and in their stead the farms and homes had been raided by animals. With heavy hearts they set out to travel to one of their oldest pieces of land in Alaska. Along the way though, various animals took to following them. It didn't take them long to figure out that many of their members had caught some wave of power from the war and their very DNA had shifted and in some cases wouldn't stop shifting.
This discovery put a bit of wind under their wings and traveling quicker they were anxious to make it to Alaska. Most of the way there, they ran into the next prediction. A large migrating group of people stopped them in their tracks. When it comes to lifestyles, the (tribe name) and what was known as the Thule culture were fairly similar. In many ways though, the Thule culture was more advanced. With their head held high, they tried to move through the groups without disturbing them much and for the most part it worked. At some camps though, some of the Thule families took notice to the tribe and when they picked up to continue towards Alaska, they followed.
Again the tribe had a growing following behind them and before they could stop it, they were changing the way they did many things. Without much thought they had assimilated to the point that there was barely a difference between their tribe and the Thule/Inuit tribes around them. As they reached Alaska, they picked up more of their once family members now forever shifted. With talk of their old land being under water now, the (tribe name) tribe made their way to a place now called Tofty, Alaska.
After settling down and finding their kinsmen, many of them made the travel back to Bohemia. Some of which stayed their permanently, while the others returned. Largely keeping to themselves, the (tribe name) did not leave their new found home often or for long. As a group they made trips down to Bohemia for rituals and celebrations, but over the years that was really the only time they traveled that way. The only exception to this was if The Tribunal was called to meet out of schedule, even then though, only a small portion of their population would accompany the priestess down to the islands.
In early 1300's word had traveled that settlers were landing in Greenland and on the shores of Canada. Many of the elders did not pay mind to the news, not worried about them stretching clear across the continent. The curious younger generations though begged to make a journey to see these people up close. Finally a small group of youths and their families were allowed to migrate that way. What they found though, at least in the northern lands and Greenland were Norsemen, much like the Rannulfr tribe. They also found British men but the familiarity of the Northmen garnered these men far more of their attentions.
Many in the group held up in Greenland set roots down and began to only venture home when absolutely necessary more often than not though they traveled to Bohemia instead. Breaking traditions, they consorted and married the Greenlanders and Norsemen, instead of choosing partners from within the tribe. Soon enough they were joined by more of their tribe, some considered themselves a smaller tribe within the tribe, however they still stood with the high priestess back in Tofty. They loved the (Tribe name) tribe and they did not wish to break away from it, but with their permanent home across the continent sometimes they conducted their own business without a high priestess.
The Greenland sect of the tribe held strong until around the year 1500. The Norsemen and company begun to return to Norway and Iceland; the looming harsh winter running not only their allies and friends away, but even some of their own kinsmen. The tribe did fine with the help of their gifts and the shifters among them, though they were cut off from much of the world around them. Their only connection to Tofty being their connection to the wildlife and those so bonded that they could become animal.
